Catapres Drug Info

Catapres Drug Uses: Catapres is most often prescribed for the treatment of hypertension. It has also been used to manage the symptoms of narcotic withdrawal, nicotine withdrawal, diabetes-associated diarrhea, diabetic neuropathy, hot flashes associated with menopause, and as an adjunct to manage severe cancer-related pain.

How to Use Catapres: Catapres tablets are usually given twice daily. Patches should be applied to an area of hairless skin on the upper arm or torso, once every 7 days. When applying a new patch, a different area of skin should be used.

Catapres Precautions: There is very little information about the effects on the fetus of clonidine given to pregnant women. Clonidine has been used during pregnancy, but reported use during the first trimester is limited. Physicians may use it if its benefits are deemed to outweigh its potential (and unknown) risks. Catapres is excreted into breast milk. Although clonidine has been found in the blood of nursing newborns whose mothers took clonidine, there are no cases reported of reduced blood pressure in the infants. Nonetheless, since reports are very limited, caution is warranted in treating nursing mothers with clonidine.

Catapres Drug Interactions: Catapres can increase the sedating effects of other medications that cause sedation. Such drugs include narcotic pain relievers, barbiturates, sedatives such as alprazolam (Xanax) and clonazepam (Klonopin), and ethanol. Tricyclic antidepressants [e.g., amitriptyline (Elavil), imipramine (Tofranil), desipramine (Norpramin), clomipramine (Anafranil)] can block the blood pressure lowering effects of clonidine. This may cause blood pressure to rise. Since Catapres can reduce the heart rate, it should be used cautiously in persons who are receiving other medications that lower the heart rate such as beta-blockers [e.g., atenolol (Tenormin), metoprolol (Lopressor), propranolol (Inderal)], digoxin (Lanoxin), diltiazem (Cardizem), or verapamil (Calan; Covera HS). Abnormal heart rhythms can occur with the combination of clonidine and verapamil. Cyclosporine (Sandimmune; Neoral) blood concentrations can increase when clonidine is begun. This interaction could result in kidney damage. Nonsteroidal anti- inflammatory drugs [e.g., ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), naproxen (Naprosyn, Aleve), nabumetone (Relafen)] can reduce the antihypertensive effects of clonidine. Cocaine, pseudoephedrine, phenylephrine, and phenylpropanolamine can reverse the blood pressure lowering effects of clonidine.

Catapres Possible Side Effects: The most common side effects noted with Catapres are tiredness, lethargy, drowsiness, constipation, and dry mouth. Headache, dizziness, fatigue, and weakness also occur with clonidine. Most persons who experience one of these side effects will usually note that the effects subside with more prolonged therapy or if doses are reduced (approved by the physician). Skin reactions including redness, itching, and darkening of skin, have occurred with clonidine patches. Sexual dysfunction including impotence, decreased sexual desire, and ejaculatory dysfunction, have been reported with clonidine therapy. Such reactions also have been reported with other medications used to treat hypertension. Severe rebound high blood pressure can occur following withdrawal from clonidine. This reaction is more likely to occur if clonidine is stopped suddenly (without a gradual dose reduction). Symptoms can include increased salivation, nervousness, headache, heart palpitations, agitation, anxiety, sweating, nausea, muscle pain, and abdominal pain. Slowly reducing the dose of clonidine over several days will prevent this problem.

Catapres Overdose: Seek emergency medical attention immediately if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms of Catapres overdose include: lethargy, drowsiness, constipation, and dry mouth.

Catapres Storage: Store Catapres at room temperature away from moisture and sunlight. Avoid excessive heat. Avoid freezing. Keep out of the reach of children. Dispense of this medicine in a tight, light-resistant container. Do not store Catapres in the bathroom.

Catapres Missed Dose: Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the medicine at the next regularly scheduled time. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

User Comments

The first thing I noticed was, my hair felt funny and began falling out. I was only 22, and my dad's not bald. Then I never felt like eating, but even so I was always constipated. I had like no energy. When winter came, I could never get warm, even when I put on all my jackets. My girlfriend said I didn't seem as interested in her. I felt like I just didn't care, but she kept telling me to take Catapres, so I did. Pretty soon, I started feeling better. I could eat right. I wanted to do things. Even with my girlfriend, if you know what I mean. My hair came back in. Taking Catapres is the best thing I ever did.

After two weeks of taking Catapres I was getting complements from my girlfriends asking me what I was doing. Thank you so much for Catapres incredible products.

Thank you for Catapres! My best friend indicated me to your product, and although skeptical I gave it a try. Amazing… I’m completely happy with Catapres. Thanks a lot!

Common Questions

What are the differences between Catapres brand-name drugs and Catapres generic drugs?
You probably know that pharmaceutical companies carry out extensive research and clinical testing to win approval from the Food and Drug Administration for new drugs. The new drug is then protected by patent for at least 10 years. Hence, a brand-name drug. When the patent expires another drug company can "copy the recipe" for the brand drug. This "copy" is called a generic drug. The FDA requires that generic Catapres have the same active chemical composition, be dispensed in the same dosage form such as a tablet or capsule and be taken in the same dosage as the brand-name drug.

What prescription medications are available to purchase on-line?
Mysuperdrugstore.com offers a limited number of medications that can be dispensed without a medical examination like Catapres, instead using an online consultation. A thorough review of your medical history from an online consultation is sufficient for the medications we offer, and in order to buy Catapres. An online questionnaire of your medical history will let the doctor decide if a requested medication is right for you.

Q. What sort of conditions can be treated through self-medication?
In most countries patients and consumers are able to have direct access to products for many conditions, such as: Acne, Allergic conjunctivitis, Arthritic pain, Caries prevention, Cholesterol lowering/lipid control, Colds, Cold sores, Constipation, Cough, Dermatitis/eczema, Diarrhoea, Emergency contraception, Erectile dysfunction, Fever, Flu prevention and treatment, Haemorrhoids, Hay fever, Headache, Indigestion/heartburn, Insomnia, Male pattern baldness, Mild/moderate pain, Minor cuts and bruises, Mouth ulcers, Nausea, Neural tube defect prevention, Smoking addiction, Sore throat, Symptoms of PMS, Topical Bacterial infections and Weight management.

Different definition / meanings for the word "rheumatoid arthritis":
An autoimmune disease which causes chronic inflammation of the joints, the tissue around the joints, as well as other organs in the body. Because it can affect multiple other organs of the body, rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic illness and is sometimes called rheumatoid disease.

How many online pharmacies are out there?
It is difficult, if not impossible, to answer this question accurately, but it is probably fewer than you would think. Illegitimate pharmacies (usually those that offer online prescribing) open and close on a daily basis. One company posing as a legitimate pharmacy may have many URLs or Web addresses, creating the impression that there are a greater number of Internet pharmacies than actually exists. In addition, pharmacies may only register with select search engines. If these search engines are not utilized when performing a search then all pharmacies may not be counted.

Different definition / meanings for the word "drug resistance":
Occurs when the virus a person is infected with is no longer sensitive to the medications taken. Even when the viral load is undetectable, a small amount of virus is still replicating. The ‘copies’ (of the replicating viruses) that survive are those that the drug cannot suppress. The surviving copies have genes that have mutated to elude capture by the drug. Sooner or later, this mutated virus reaches a critical mass and ‘breaks through’

Saliva Test kits to Evaluate Hormone Levels

If you are a woman experiencing symptoms of hormonal imbalance, PMS or
menopausal symptoms we recommend you test the levels of three hormones:
Estradiol, Progesterone and Testosterone.

These saliva tests are non-invasive, there are no needles, no pain
and no blood is required and the kit can used in the privacy of your
own home.

The hormone test kit includes an information booklet, easy to
follow directions, saliva collection supplies, and pre-paid mailing for
the saliva sample. One kit tests for all three hormones.

Hormones tested by our kit:

Estradiol - The most dominant of the estrogens. It is
recommended that Estradiol levels be measured when supplementing with a
compounded preparation of bioidentical estrogens containing Estradiol.

Progesterone - tested in concert with estradiol as an imbalance
of these two hormones is associated with major symptoms of menopause and
disorders of the reproductive system.

Testosterone - indicator of low sex drive, hair loss/excess,
muscle and bone status.

The process of having your three key hormone levels tested is simple, safe, and
accurate!
